A BSF personnel was killed and six others were injured after their vehicle skidded off road and plunged into deep gorge in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. The accident took place near Balnoi area of Mendhar sub division.
The deceased jawan has been indentified as Ram Chandran . The injured jawans have been admitted to a hospital, police said.
"One vehicle of Border Security Force fell into a deep gorge in Balnoi area near Zirat Takia Shareef Balnoi. In the mishap seven jawans were injured and later shifted to nearby Army unit where a BSF jawan identified as Ram Chandran of 158 BSF succumbed to injuries," a police offcial said.
Last month, two Army jawans were killed and three others were injured in an accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.
The accident took place when an ambulance of the force skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge, officials told news agency.
In December last year, as many as 16 Army soldiers lost their lives and four others suffered injuries after their vehicle skidded down a steep slope near North Sikkim.
